from first conversation to final piece
the process
you're involved at every stage
A bespoke commission is a collaboration, not a transaction. You see the design before it's made, you can try on a mock-up before I commit to precious metal, and you approve every significant decision along the way.
This is how in-house production should work. Because everything happens in my London workshop - design, casting, setting, finishing - there are no delays between steps, no middlemen, and no ambiguity about what you're getting.
nine steps
from brief to beautiful
Most commissions take 3-6 weeks. The timeline below is typical - yours may be shorter for simpler pieces or longer if rare stones are involved.

- 01
Consultation
Everything starts with a conversation. We meet in person, remotely by video call or can discuss over Whatsapp. There's no presentation, no sales pressure. We ask questions, you share ideas, and together we find the shape of your project - the meaning behind it, the materials, the budget, the timeline.
- 02
Concept & references
Bring anything that speaks to you: photographs, heirloom pieces, a Pinterest board, or a sketch on a post it note. There are no wrong references. This stage is about understanding what the piece means to you - and what it should feel like to wear.
- 03
Stone sourcing
I source stones ethically to your brief - a specific size, colour, character, or budget. I work with trusted suppliers who provide full origin traceability. For client-supplied stones, I assess condition and suitability, then incorporate them into the design.
- 04
CAD design
I create a precise 3D computer-aided design for your review. You see exact proportions, stone placement, band profile, and metal weight before anything is physically made. Adjustments are expected - two rounds of revisions are included as standard, and I iterate until you're happy.
- 05
Mock-up / 3D print
We create high res renders for your review and as an option, but strongly recommended for engagement rings, we can make a wax or resin 3D print. You understand the scale, how it sits on your finger, whether the proportions work. It's a small step that removes a lot of uncertainty - and it can be taken home before casting begins.
- 06
Intentional metal selection
I discuss metal type, colour, and weight. I work with responsibly sourced gold in 18ct yellow, white, and rose, and in platinum. If you're providing your own inherited gold, I assess it for recast suitability.
- 07
In-house casting in London
Your piece is cast in-house at my London workshop in partnership with my sister company Responsible Casting Company. This is what sets me apart: nothing is sent to an external casting house. I have full sight of the process, the material, and the result. Casting is followed by initial clean-up and preparation for setting.
- 08
Setting & hand finishing
Stones are set by hand - a precise and careful process that can take longer than the casting itself. The piece is then finished: polished, textured, or brushed depending on the agreed specification. Every surface is inspected before we sign off.
- 09
Final fitting & delivery
You can collect in person at the studio for a final fitting, or I can meet you in London at a location that works for you. Otherwise, we can ship securely with full insurance and tracking.
responsible casting company
my casting partner
Casting jewellery is a specialist craft. Rather than outsource it to an unknown supplier, I work in direct partnership with Responsible Casting Company (RCC) - my on-site London casting partner.
RCC uses responsibly sourced gold and maintains full traceability through their supply chain. This means I can tell you exactly where your metal came from - and so can you.
Having casting in-house also means we can move quickly, catch issues early, and maintain the kind of quality control that wouldn't be possible if the work was sent away. It's a better process for everyone involved.
for your first consultation
what to bring
You don't need to arrive with a fully formed idea. A feeling, a reference, even just a sense of what you don't want - it's all useful. That said, if you can share the following, we can move faster:
- Budget range (even a rough one)
- Timeline or any important dates
- Reference images - anything from magazine clippings to Instagram screenshots
- Ring size (or a ring you currently wear for sizing)
- Metal preference - yellow, white, or rose gold; platinum
- Stone ideas - type, colour, size, or "I have no idea" is fine too
- Any heirloom materials you'd like to incorporate
